Liebherr
LG 1550
The lattice boom truck crane that out-lifts a Manitowoc 16000 with the wind tip and matches a Manitowoc 18000 with a luffer. Highway-mobile, fast-deploy heavy iron — the right tool when the lift envelope demands a lattice and the schedule won't tolerate a crawler walk-in.
Lattice Capacity. Truck Crane Mobility.
Most lifts in the 100,000 lb to 400,000 lb range at extended radius end up on a crawler — which means weeks of mobilization, a crane walk-in, ground prep, and decommissioning. The LG 1550 collapses that timeline.
Liebherr engineered the LG 1550 to deliver lattice-boom capacity on a self-propelled chassis. The crane drives to the site under its own power, assembles its lattice boom on the ground, deploys outriggers, and is producing lifts on the same schedule a 300-ton AT would set up — but with the capacity of a crawler twice its class.
At 184 ft main boom (SL2 configuration) with the 200 t suspended counterweight, the crane handles 134,000+ lb at 100 ft working radius at well under 85% chart utilization. That same lift on a 550-ton telescopic AT runs at 100%+ — meaning the LG 1550 turns a critical lift into a routine pick.
Built for the Lift.
Not the Other Way Around.
The LG 1550 is a modular system. The right configuration depends on the lift weight, radius, vertical reach, and ground constraints. Coldfoot stocks the full kit — every section and every package — to assemble whatever the lift study calls for.
Heavy lattice main boom sections. The structural backbone for high-load, short-to-mid-radius work.
Light lattice sections, paired with S sections to extend boom length while controlling parasitic weight.
Heavy + light sections combined. The standard production configuration — flexible length, optimized for radius performance.
Main boom with head adapter and 220.5 kps pulley block. The go-to for heavy production picks at extended radius.
Main boom with head adapter, no pulley block. Used when separate rigging or auxiliary boom is preferred.
Main boom + light luffing lattice jib. Vertical reach for wind turbine work and high-radius industrial picks.
Main boom + heavy luffing fly jib. Higher capacity at long radius — engineered for the largest wind turbine nacelles.
Add-on derrick boom for back-stays — the structural addition that unlocks the highest capacity rating at the longest radius.
Tray-and-derrick ballast system. Up to 250 metric ton suspended counterweight — doubles main-boom capacity at extended radius.
Main boom, derrick, and suspended counterweight combined. The strongest possible main-boom configuration the LG 1550 can run.
Heavy luffer, derrick, and suspended counterweight. The strongest possible luffing configuration — wind nacelles at maximum hub height.
Auxiliary boomnose attachment. Adds a secondary lift point at boom tip — useful for tag-line work or fixed-angle picks.
Lifts This Crane Was Made For.
Wind Turbine Erection
Nacelle, hub, and blade installation up to 120 m hub height. SLDB and SWDB configurations handle the largest current-generation wind turbine components.
Small Modular Reactor Placement
SMR vessel and module installation. The LG 1550's capacity-at-radius envelope is engineered for exactly this class of single-pick critical lift.
Refinery & Petrochem Turnaround
Reactor, column, and drum installation. Lattice boom geometry clears interstitial structures that telescopic booms can't.
Datacenter & Capital Projects
Pre-cast wall panels, generator sets, and chiller units. Fast site mobilization beats crawler timelines for tight project schedules.
Battery Storage & Solar
Container battery sets, transformer placement, and inverter station installation across utility-scale renewable sites.
Gas Compression
Compressor packages, separators, and skid-mounted process equipment for midstream and upstream gas operations.
134,100 lb at 100 ft Radius
Coldfoot generates a LICCON-verified lift study for every critical-lift scope. Numbers shown reflect a representative configuration — your actual pick gets engineered against the specific load, radius, ground bearing, and weather window.
One of the Largest LG 1550 Fleets in North America.
Coldfoot operates a deep LG 1550 fleet across the energy corridor. Available with the full configuration kit — two complete tray-and-derrick packages, four heavy (S) and five light (L) section inventories up to 84 m each, three SLN packages, five SW heavy-luffer packages, and the full SL2/SL3/SL5 head-adapter system.
That depth means we don't compromise the configuration to fit what's available — we build the configuration the lift requires. SLDB? On the yard. SWDB at 207 ft? On the yard. Fast turnaround between Wind River Range jobs and Permian Basin work? That's the operational profile.
